Nuala, hace poco que he recuperado la capacidad de escribir a mano medianamente bien. El pasado verano sufrí un accidente, un corte en la muñeca derecha que me afectó al nervio carpiano (parcialmente seccionado). He recuperado bastante la movilidad de los dedos, pero incluso una leve disfunción en la mano buena es bastante grave para alguien que la utiliza para trabajos de precisión. Sólo yo sé lo que me cuestan esos dibujos, qué hay detrás de cada papel que arrugo. La caligrafía, por menos necesaria, ha tenido que esperar su turno.

This extract comes from Canto IV, dealing with the element of time and the purpose of Dante's journey. Dante refutes Aristotle's idea of multiple souls which are differentiated by their degrees of heat. Later on Aquinas consolidated this idea with the Christian doctrine stating that the soul is a unity made up of three faculties; the vegetative, the sensitive and the intellective. If the soul is strongly drawn to one of these powers it must therefore neglect the others. Hence, when we are totally captivated by something we can lose all sense of time.

Is this a bad thing?
